Client Preparation Tips
To ensure a seamless experience, I recommend arriving at least 5 minutes early
Have your inspiration photos ready to go if you didn’t already send them over
Remember to cleanse, exfoliate, and moisturize for a fresh and flawless canvas
I highly recommend getting dermaplaned or threaded a few days before your appointment to remove unwanted brow hairs, peach fuzz, mustache, chin hair, etc. as it can interfere with the makeup application
Apply lip balm throughout the week to avoid dry, cracked lips. This will ensure your lipstick goes on smoothly and lasts longer for your event.
Please Note: These steps are essential for achieving the most flawless makeup application. It is important to keep in mind that facial hair, texture, and fine lines/wrinkles cannot be completely hidden by makeup, as they will still be visible to some extent. By following these guidelines, we can work towards minimizing their appearance as much as possible.
Dress comfortably, as you will be sitting for 1.5-2hrs
Wear a low-cut top if you would like a glowy décolletage
PLEASE AVOID
Getting on your phone throughout your appointment (this takes up time that I do not have and can be disrespectful) emergencies are an exception
Chewing gum, this makes it difficult for me to achieve a smooth application
Wearing clothes that you do not want makeup on, there’s a chance makeup could stain clothing if it makes contact
DO NOT come to your appointment if you are sick, getting over a sickness, have a cold sore, contagious skin/eye condition!
INSPO PHOTOS
To ensure that I deliver the best possible service, I require that you send inspo photos anytime after booking. These photos are an essential tool that allows me to understand your vision and discuss any specific preferences you may have.
One week prior to your appointment, I will reach out to ask for the inspo photos. This timing allows me to be fully prepared, ensuring a smoother process during your session. It also gives us the opportunity to discuss the details, allowing for clear communication between us.
Additionally, please note that a mini consult will take place at the beginning of your appointment. This is to ensure that we have a complete understanding of your desired look. By having the inspo photos already sent and discussed, this process becomes easier and quicker.
SKIN PREP
Drinking water consistently in the week leading up to your appointment will promote hydrated skin, which will in turn, reduce fine lines and allow for a smooth, flawless makeup application
Please cleanse, exfoliate, and moisturize your skin the night before and morning of your appointment. Do not get an invasive treatment such as needling or chemical peels the week of your appointment, this will result in dry, flakey skin and patchy makeup application.
If you have acne DO NOT pick at it! I will not be able to cover a freshly picked spot with foundation due to the oils.
Texture will not disappear from applying foundation, I use techniques to make the base appear soft, but texture still shows through.
The same goes for smile lines and other fine lines in general. Remember makeup enhances, it does not erase. Therefore, these lines will still be visible after the foundation is applied. Once again, I advise you drink a lot of water prior to your appointment to reduce the appearance of these lines.
Use sunscreen in the weeks prior to your appointment to avoid skin dehydration from the sun
Please inform me if you have any allergies to makeup/skincare
FAKE TAN
Getting your fake tan 2 days prior to your event will ensure the tan is fully developed
Avoid using hot water on your tan, it will cause it to fade quicker
You can apply a gradual tanning lotion to ensure your tan stays perfectly bronzed prior to your appointment
LASH EXTENSIONS
You may wear lash extensions to your appointment, it is a great option if you get watery and don’t want strip lashes lifting throughout the day due to watering
Please ensure your lashes are cleansed prior to your appointment
It is at your own risk that your lashes may be damaged or that you may experience fall out during or after your appointment
EYE CONTACTS
For your safety, please inform me if you are wearing contacts prior to starting the makeup application
TIPS FOR A LONG LASTING MAKEUP
Avoid sweating and overproduction of oils by staying in air-conditioning prior to your event
Avoid touching your face and be careful about moving your hair out of your face, you could scratch the base or leave marks in your foundation
Lip applications last quite awhile, but I recommend buying a lipstick or gloss to touch up with (NYX or Morphe liners, Fenty glosses are great options)
Use blotting papers to remove oils that might develop throughout the day, use these right before leaving for your event and a little bit of translucent powder only if needed. Do not apply powder without removing the oils first, this can result in a cakey base!
Please follow my advice if you want to get the best possible outcome from your makeup application! Thank you for choosing me as your Makeup Artist, I can’t wait to get you glammed up for your special event! - Madison
